Recipe : Papite ka halwa

Tomorrow is Karwa chauth. We prepare many dishes for “Sargi” (the early morning meal before fasting). This time you can try this new sweet dish. I am sure that you will like it. Even if you are not fasting, you can also try this ‘halwa’. It’s a sweet dish as yummy as healthy.

Papite ka halwa 




Ingredients :

  1. Raw Papaya – 500 gm.
  2. Clarified Butter (Ghee) – 2 ½ tbsp
  3. Khoya(crumbled)-  150 gm.
  4. Sugar – 350 gm. Or as per your taste


Method:

  • Thickly peel out the papaya & remove its entire inner layer of seed side. If the peeling from inside & outside is not done properly, the taste of halwa would get affected.
  • Now, grate the papaya & keep it aside.
  • Take a wok & keep it on medium flame, with ½ tbsp clarified butter(Ghee).
  • Then, place all the papaya into the wok. After stirring it for a while, close it with a lid.
  • After 5-10 minutes, add sugar and stir the mixture well. Then, cover the lid again.
  • Now, keep stirring & closing the lid after every 5-10 minutes, till the mixture is fully done.
  • Add crumbled khoya & rest ghee into the mixture, now; and sauté it well.
  • Now, after every 5-10 minutes stir the mixture well, till it attains a slightly pinkish colour.
