Recipe : Gobhi Manchurian

With the rising inclination towards Chinese foodstuffs,
we all either move to the restaurants or make them
with masala mix packets at home. But their taste can
neither be customized nor is it healthy. So, my today’s
recipe is Gobhi Manchurian, which can be made easily at home, can be customized and has such ingredients that are easily available.

Gobhi  Manchurian

Ingredients

Cauliflower     ½ kg
Carrot         50 gm
French beans   25 gm
Capsicum      50 gm
Onion         100 gm
Garlic ginger paste   1 tsp
Soya sauce        1 tsp
Vinegar           1 tsp
Black pepper powder 1 tsp
Chilli sauce        ½ tbsp
Tomato sauce      1 tbsp
Salt                              to taste
Olive or Refind oil   for frying
Corn flour     2 tbsp

Method :
  • Cut the cauliflowers into medium sized flowers: wash it properly, and then par boil.
  • In a bowl, take corn flour and add vinegar, salt, black pepper powder & all the sauces mentioned above.
  • Add water to this mixture and a make a thin solution out of it. Now, cut carrot, capsicum and French beans in fine vertical strips (as in chowmein).
  • In another bowl, make a solution of corn flour, salt and water.
  • Heat up oil in a wok.
  • Dip the flowers into the corn flour-salt solution & fry them in the wok.
  • Leaving about 1 tbsp of oil in the wok, take out the rest of it.
  • While keeping the flame on high add chopped onion into the wok and sauté it, till it becomes pinkish.
  • Then, add French beans and carrot and sauté them until they little bit soften down.
  • Further, add capsicum and mix it well.
  • Add the corn flour-sauce solution, while continuously stirring the mixture, to avoid lump-formation.
  • Let the gravy boil once, at high flame.
  • Put the fried cauliflowers into the gravy and boil it at low flame till the flowers become soft and it attains a proper consistency.
  • Now the Manchurian is ready. Garnish it with fresh chopped coriander leaves and serve it with chapatti, rice or parantha .

Note: The quantity of sauces can be increased or decreased according to your taste.
