Kiddo Delight : Swiss roll

Swiss Roll

After such a long break, we are back again at kiddo delight with yummy and mouth watering recipe for you and your kids.

Ingredients

  • 85gm All purpose Flour(Maida)
  • 85gm Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 5 drops Vanilla Essence
  • 1 pinch Food Colouring
  • ¼ sheet Butter Paper
  • 100gm Jam or Cream

Method:

  1. Sieve baking powder and maida 2-3 times.
  2. Prepare baking tray by spreading butter paper on it. Grease it with ghee and dust it with maida.
  3. Beat eggs in a bowl. While beating, add little amounts of sugar periodically, until the mixture becomes light and fluffy with such consistency that ribbons can be formed.
  4. Mix the mixture prepared in step 1 to the mixture of step 3 by cross and fold method.
  5. Now spread this cake-batter onto the prepared baking tray evenly. To make the surface more even tap it twice on your work station.
  6. Now place it in a pre-heated oven for 12-15 min at 200°C.
  7. Meanwhile, prepare another butter paper sheet with sprinkled sugar on it.
  8. Take out the tray and turn it upside down onto the above mentioned sheet. Remove the hot butter paper carefully.
  9. If you are using jam-filling, then apply it at the same time. But if using cream-filling, let the base cool down for 2-3 min. & then apply cream.
  10. Now at anyone of the end after leaving half inch, make a half cut to enable it to roll, as shown in fig.:2.
  11. Then with the help of the butter paper roll it, inwards & wrap the same paper onto it such that, you can close both of it ends, as shown in fig.:3.
  12. Keep it In the refrigerator for 10 min. Take out the cake from the paper and cut the cake into slices of about half inch.
  13. The Swiss Roll is ready to be served. I have made the filling of jam but you can change the filling to any flavoured cream. You can also decorate it the way you want.

For Jam Filling:

  • Put jam in a double boiler and liquefy it, so that it becomes spreadable.

For Cream Filling:

  • Take thick Amul Fresh Cream, add powdered sugar in it, and whip it to make it light and fluffy.

Tip:

  • If you are using microwave oven, use it at convection mode.
