Chhath Puja - Bihar's Biggest Festival
Chhath is an ancient ( Vedic ) Hindu festival, that is dedicated to lord Surya who is supposed to be the source of all powers and chhath maiya. This festival is mainly celebrated in Indian states like -Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and in Nepal. But now, the festival has not been confined to these areas. With the migration of people, now it is celebrated in many regions.

On the auspicious occasion of chhath, I will share with you the
recipe of a main puja prasad called
thekua.
Ingredients :
Wheat flour - 1bowl
Ghee - ¼ bowl
Almonds - ½ tbsp chopped
Cashew nut – ½ tbsp
chopped
Sugar or jaggery – ¾ bowl
Ghee - for frying
Method :
- take flour in a bowl add ghee. Mix it well by rubbing with the palm
- Add sugar in water and bring to boil, or melt the jaggery.
- Add both nuts, sugar solution or melted jaggery in to the prepared flour to form dough
- Make small roundels from the dough.
- Take a wok & put it on the high flame. Pour ghee and heat it up.
- After it gets heated, drop roundels in ghee to fry.
- At low flame, fry until crisp, golden brown
- Serve hot.
