The 21st century is the century with booming Artificial Intelligence, and so is the current generation. India had hosted an international AI Summit, which is a matter of pride itself. This article written by Advay leads us to this viewpoint…
In the present-day world with thriving technology, where one single click is capable of modifying the entire world, India would also have to level up. The fourth largest country (as per nominal GDP) with a population of more than 140 crores, has to move beyond aspirational frameworks toward concrete and measurable impact which addresses both Artificial Intelligence’s (AI’s) promises and perils.
With this thought, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi welcomes 20 Government-Heads from 110+ countries, 5 lakhs+ participants, and 550 global summit events to the first-ever global AI summit hosted in the Global South, the “India AI Impact Summit 2026”.
AI is now Bharatiya
AI has been completely implied and vested in every nook and corner of India. Peasants use AI-powered vernacular chatbots for agricultural advice, doctors adopting AI-based platforms to assist healthcare workers with patient histories, corporate-workers saving an hour daily with AI-coded bots. This demonstrates the current significance and usage of AI in India at the same time, posing challenges like disrupting employment patterns, exacerbating biases, and accelerating energy consumption.
All these jeopardies underscore the necessity of hosting an international AI summit in the Global South, placing human welfare, environmental sustainability, and economic transformation at the core.
It not only tackles the AI-related pitfalls, but also positions AI leadership as both, an opportunity and a responsibility for the largest democracy in the world. The 1.5 lakh+ startups of India would benefit from this as well as represent India in the international market. It also serves as a chance of disputing the backward thinking of the West that India is an underdog nation.
A key moment in the building of “Viksit Bharat 2047”, has infrastructure pledges crossing the benchmark of USD ($) 250 billion, accounting to around INR 2 lakh crores!
Chartering the path onto becoming a developed nation, India also does not forget its humility and humbleness. The theme of the Summit is “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya”, a Sanskrit phrase which translates to “welfare for all, happiness for all”.
The Summit is anchored by 3 ‘Sutras’, or foundational pillars-
- People (ensuring inclusion in deployment)
- Planet (accelerating climate resilience)
- Progress (equitable access to opportunity).
The deliberations would be organized around 7 interconnected ‘Chakras’, or areas of multilateral cooperation-
- Human Capital (inclusive workforce transition)
- Inclusion for Social Environment (advancing socio-economic outcomes)
- Safe and Trusted AI (robust safeguards)
- Resilience, Innovation, and Efficiency
- Science (global scientific collaboration)
- Democratizing AI Resources (universally accessible and affordable)
- Economic Growth and Social Good (productivity, innovation, and growth)
To conclude with, the figures are not as important as the confidence exhibited by India and its citizens. India is not just participating in the technological transformation, but also shaping it.
By the way, advancing India in the field of AI is not just the responsibility of the government and the ministries, but also of every citizen, rich or poor, young or old. Let us all pledge, to transform our developing India into a developed India, as soon as possible, with all might and willpower, contributing by making the smallest yet the most impactful steps.
Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!
